Thumpers, Scala

Alt-pop outfit Thumpers will be bringing their polished electro-indie grooves to Scala in May. Formed in late 2011, the band consists of childhood friends John Hamson, Jr and Marcus Pepperall, whose music emerged from an unlikely email correspondence while Hamson was playing bass and percussion for Friendly Fires on their Pala tour. Hamson started elsewhere too, playing drums for Noah And The Whale. Their influence is audible.

Dance-ready beats emerge in Thumpers’ energetic tracks, evident in their first single, Dancing’s Done . Meanwhile, their latest single  Galore recalls early Friendly Fires, with its swirling techno melodies and falsetto vocals.
