Since she first arrived on the scene with ‘Pon De Replay’, Rihanna has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame. From early dancehall-inspired cuts via ‘Umbrella’-style R&B anthems to the harder edged trap stylings of ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’, the Barbadian superstar and generational icon has a wide-ranging back-catalogue.

The singer’s sixth album Anti, her first in three years, was released on January 28. Prior to its release, it was shrouded in mystery; speculation abounded, driven by a succession of cryptic teaser videos. It's an enigmatic listen as well. Tracks like 'Desperado' and 'Needed Me' are full of R&B brooding, while 'Never Ending' with its finger-picked guitars has a decidedly folksy feel. 'Love on The Brain' meanwhile has more than a hint of '60s soul. It's a genuinely unpredictable listen, and what it lacks in coherence, it makes up for in stridency.

The Anti world tour starts this February, with Rihanna due to play London’s Wembley Stadium on June 24. Tickets are available now.
