Uneasy Listening: An Evening with Clint Mansell, Royal Festival Hall
Soundtrack extraordinaire Clint Mansell scored the likes of The Fountain and Black Swan. He comes to the Royal Festival Hall on March 24.
Clint Mansell began his career as the lead singer of ‘80s rock-eccentrics
Pop Will Eat Itself, although these days though he is far better known for his masterful
film scores. Responsible for soundtracking cinematic sensations like Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain, he has an ear for mood
and drama; for music that conjures atmosphere and place.
In 2010, Mansell undertook his most ambitious project to date, adapting Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake for Darren Aaronofsky’s psychological thrill-ride Black Swan. His soundtrack was a perfect rendering of the turmoil at the film’s heart, both stately and unnerving.
With such a rich back-catalogue, Uneasy Listening: An Evening with Clint Mansell at the Royal Festival Hall promises to be a treat for cinephiles and audiophiles alike. More recently, the prolific composer completed the soundtrack for High Rise, Ben Wheatley’s hotly-anticipated Ballardian dystopia: yet more reason to be excited.
Performing alongside pianist Carly Paradis and the Sonus Quartet, Mansell takes to the hallowed stage of the Royal Festival Hall on 24 March 2016.
