Marianne Faithfull, Royal Festival Hall, 50th Anniversary Tour

Singer Marianne Faithful to play one-off Royal Festival Hall concert fifty years after the release of her hit single 'As Tears Go By'

Marianne Faithfull, Royal Festival Hall, 50th Anniversary Tour
Fifty years after releasing her hit single ‘As Tears Go By’ at the age of 16, the singer Marianne Faithfull is embarking on an anniversary world tour. The Sixties wild child turned matriarch of the music industry will be appearing for one night at a concert in London in November, at the Southbank’s Royal Festival Hall.
We know all about the highs and lows of Faithfull’s life (her relationship with Mick Jagger, her drug abuse...), not least through her own account. Her critically acclaimed solo work has at times been overshadowed by her personal history, but now the Sixties star emerges as a star in her Sixties, and promises to delight audiences. The French Culture Minister,  Frederic Mitterrand , is a fan. ‘Marianne Faithfull, you are first of all a timbre, a warm and bewitching voice…” he said, awarding her one of the highest cultural honours in France, the Commadeur Of L’Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres. This is a rare chance to hear the chanteusse.
