Madeleine Peyroux Trio, Ronnie Scott's

This October at Ronnie Scott's Madeleine Peyroux will perform in honour of new anthology: 'Keep Me in Your Heart for a While: The Best of Madeleine Peyroux'.

Madeleine Peyroux Trio, Ronnie Scott's
Madeleine Peyroux's subtle, expressive voice, a blend of velvet and melancholy, took her from busking on the streets of Paris to selling out jazz institutions around the world. Like all great instruments, it can be deployed in a variety of genres: Peyroux is defined as a jazz singer but really sings Billie Holliday-style blues, albeit with a French, Piaf/Gainsbourg twist.
Peyroux began as an interpreter of 1920s and 1930s standards, but her repertoire soon spread much more widely, and she now has versions of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Waits, Elliot Smith, Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg, as well as her own compositions.
Her last album, The Blue Room, further emphasised her breadth. Begun as a tribute to Ray Charles, the album is a space in which country, soul, blues and jazz all meet, with songs by Randy Newman and  John Hartford.
This October, with the help of guitarist Jon Herington  and bassist Barak Mori, Peyroux will perform her best-loved tracks, in aid of Keep Me in Your Heart for a While: The Best of Madeleine Peyroux. You'll be treated to a full survey of her career, from her imaginative interpretations to her own compositions.
Despite the enormous acclaim that surrounds her, you can still hear the honesty and spontaneity of a breezy Parisian pavement in her performances. Don't miss the chance to witness Peyroux's magic.
