Alison Moyet, Royal Hospital Chelsea
Coming to the Royal Hospital Chesea: Alison Moyet - London tickets on sale now.
Alison Moyet will always be known as a mainstay of the UK's pop scene in the 80s, with a voice which, after thirty years of fame still sounds as recognisable, and uniquely powerful as it ever did.
Coming to fame as a founding member of the groups Yazoo and Erasure before decades of success as a solo artist were interrupted only by a contract disupte with Sony in the late 90s (during which time she kept her eye in providing vocals for Tricky, Ocean Colour Scene and The Lightning Seeds amongst others).
Now appearing for her only London show of the year at the 'Live at Chelsea' series in support of the Chelsea Pensioners, Moyet promises a set focused on the electro-pop classics that made her name, as well showcasing her most recent solo album the minutes, which was itself a return to her roots (think powerful choruses wailed over windswept scenes), and was released on Cooking Vinyl in 2013 to critical acclaim.
Moyet's is a career defined by constant prevailing over odds and challenges, and she is rightly famous (although not as famous as she could be, and that's kind of the point) for never compromising integrity for self-promotion - an authentic pop star like they just don't make any more.
