Hot Chip are known for having navigated the gap between the indie and electronic world with significant daytime radio play. Hits such as Over and Over and Ready For The Floor were just as commonly heard in a local cafe as they were in an East London club. In this sense they were something of a modern anomaly: a band who steadfastly maintained their musical integrity whilst appealing to the mass market. Not many bands can boast such a feat.

In search of a new challenge following this unrivalled success, singer Alexis Taylor formed a side project in 2009 called About,  members of rock bands Spiritualized and This Heat. Despite being primarily,  a jazz improv group their sound bears some semblance to Hot Chip’s innovative style. They made their first record for the Treader label without having ever played together before, recording the entire album in just one day. Since then they have slightly altered their name to About Group and released their second album Start and Complete through respected indie stable Domino in 2011. Their latest album, Between The Walls continues to furrow a free jazz path but it also moves away from more conventional song structures, trading them for a looser and more avant-garde approach.

The band recreates a live-studio feel on record, with instruments such as a Wurlitzer, organ and piano all present and correct. Soifyou are not one for surprises then have a lsiten beforehand to really get a feelof what you are in for. We know that this sound seamlessly transforms and burst into life when moving to a gig setting, and we cant wait to see them live!
