Nimmo, ICA
Synth-pop duo Nimmo to play upcoming gig at London's ICA. Book concert tickets before November as this pair are on the rise.
Moody is a word rarely applied positively, but in the case of Jaded, the latest single from London based Nimmo it’s a badge of honour.
Opening with dark synth over a faded guitar whorl, the song is lifted up on lead singer Sarah Nimmo’s piercing voice. Clear as a bell, the sonorous vocals make an elegant counterpoint to sombre intensity of guitars, skittering drums and synth that click into gear underneath.
Think anglicised Krautrock with a Camden twist, topped up with pop.
It is this grasp of pop which make childhood friends Sarah Nimmo & Reva Gauntlett stand out.
Their songs share something genetically with the big-hitters of the singles chart even though at first glance they couldn’t be less alike: that hook that draws you back, pulls you along, and makes you think ‘they get it’.
