31 years ago a hot new boy band played for their first big crowd in a sellout show in the Albert Hall... Spandau Ballet went on to enjoy meteoric success through the '80s (there was even a petition for their number one hit Gold to be made the National Anthem). Now Martin Kemp, Gary Kemp, Tony Hadley and John Keeble will return to the same venue to celebrate the launch of Soul Boys of the Western World, a film that charts the band's rise to fame and gives a touchingly accurate portrait of an era -- from shoulder pads to social commentary.
Following the film screening, Radio 6 D.J and The Culture Show presenter Lauren Laverne will present a Q&A with the members of Spandau Ballet and film director George Hencken.
It might be cheesier than a fondue, but if you fancy some nostalgia, and the rare chance to see a true 80s super ground perform unfailingly rousing pop anthems, book now.
