First Aid Kit

Swedish folk-duo First Aid Kit return to the UK for an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall this September, touring their third studio album Stay Gold.

Since finding widespread acclaim in 2012 after the release of their single Emmylou Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Soderberg were awarded 4 Swedish Grammys in 2012 for album The Lion’s Roar. They look set to continue that success with their new album, Stay Gold, after it debuted in the UK Top 20 and claimed the top spot in both Sweden and Denmark.

Borrowing more than a few tropes from the schools of Americana and country, as well as their rather convincing Southern accents, the sisters’ previously minimalist instrumentation has been enhanced with soaring string arrangements on their new release. The sunny vocal harmonies which dominate the songs are backed with classic country ornamentation; autoharps and gentle thrums of pedal steel guitar intertwine with the chiming vocal melodies.

The sweet melodies of the pair’s hook-laden take on indie-folk will make for a perfect early autumn evening.
