Pet Shop Boys, Inner Sanctum, ROH
Book now: The mythical synthpop duo Pet Shop Boys have announced a return to the august surroundings of the Royal Opera House with their hit stage show, Inner Sanctum
For four nights in July, Pet Shop Boys will turn the red velvet and gilt auditorium of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden into the set for their spectacular pop show, Inner Sanctum.
Inner Sanctum is a treat for the eyes and ears, heavy on laser effects, and blending hip-hop dancing, futuristic aliens, a mass of colourful inflatable dancers, and Pet Shop Boys’ trademark synthpop.
Staging is by the acclaimed ES Devlin, designer of the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics and more recently the 2015 production of Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch, among many other prestige projects. Choreography is by Lynne Page (Viva Forever! A Little Night Music, Little Shop of Horrors et al).
Neil Tennant (64) and Chris Lowe (58), aka. Pet Shop Boys, have been making music since the early 1980s, but show no sign of slowing down. The holders of a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and NME’s Godlike Genius Award, they continue to extend the range and reach of their electronic music.
Their first short residency at the ROH two years ago was a runaway success and tickets sold out in record time. The Independent described it thus: ‘Affected, moving, colourful and flat out fun, it is some spectacle.'
So, should you want to be part of one of the musical events of the coming summer, get booking now!
Note: tickets are limited to four per booking.
Standing tickets in the orchestra pit are available.
