Festival Number 6 comes to the Tate Britain

Boutique Festival Number 6 joins forces with the Tate Britain for a truly magical one-off event

Festival Number 6 at Tate Britain
Festival Number 6 is the boutique festival set in the picturesque, if slightly strange, village of Portmerion in Northern Wales.

As the set of the 1960’s TV show The Prisoner, the spot is anything but your average sleepy coastal town – it’s all pastel buildings, elaborate Italian-style architecture and winding hidden passageways. Which makes it the ideal setting for one of the UK’s most unique boutique summer shindigs.

Festival Number 6 this year falls between the 7 and 10 of September. But if you’re thinking that might be just the wrong side of festival season – or that the £345 price tag might be a bit too steep for the Village accommodation (trust us, you won’t want to be sleeping in a tent in this place) – then we’ve got some excellent news.

Thanks to popular demand, the organisers of No6 are bringing the magic to you, with a one off event in London hosted in partnership with Tate Britain. On the evening of Friday 3 of March, the gallery will be transformed into the ethereal wonderland of Portmeirion, complete with pop-up theatre, spoken word and comedy, and No6’s own ‘Composer-in-residence’ Joe Duddel and the No6 ensemble. The line up includes Blossoms with Joe Duddell and the No.6 ensemble, Charlotte Church’s Love Bomb, Dr John Cooper Clarke, Greg Wilson and Sara Pascoe.

You can expect all the usual street-food feasts and a tonne of bars to keep you lubricated – be sure to check out the gorgeous gin bar overlooking the Rotunda.

Tickets are on sale now for £69 and includes after hours access to the David Hockney exhibition and the Paul Nash exhibition. With the extra cash you save on the full festival experience, you can treat yourself to any of the additional offers available – like the three-course banquet inspired by artists Rex Whistler’s mural In Pursuit of Rare Meats or a wine tasting masterclass in the Grand Saloon of the gallery.
