The Beaufort Bar at The Savoy
Art deco elegance and inventive cocktails combine at the Beaufort Bar at The Savoy Hotel
Add a little drama to your drinks date at the Savoy’s Beaufourt Bar. Occupying what used to be the hotel’s cabaret stage, the bar draws upon this theatrical history with inventive cocktails served in an elegant art deco setting.
Low lighting and sleek black and metallic accents make for an intimate space, where the waiters are unobtrusive but attentive enough to ensure the drinks flow.
Split into three sections and devised by head bartender Elon Soddu,, the menu takes some exploring. ‘Music’ revolves around the light, lively taste of champagne, featuring cocktails along with vintage champagnes and fine wines by the glass or bottle. ‘Magic’ introduces more complexity, with a focus on gin and surprising elements, such as an electric flower in the Lightbulb Moment cocktail. Finally ‘Drama’ is dark and absorbing with an emphasis on whisky.
While cocktails are the main attraction, the varied selection of bar snacks are ideal for grazing and soaking up the alcohol. We particularly liked the melt-in-the-middle cheese choux pastries and the rather more virtuous veggie buns.
With drinks around £20 and upwards, The Beaufort Bar is not the place for casual post-work pints. But the glamorous setting and thoughtful flavour combinations will ensure special occasions feel special.
