Margarita Rumble, London Fields Arches
Fifteen London-based bars and restaurants are going head-to-head to make the best margarita – and you're invited to help crown the winner
We've all got those special little bars that we think makes the best drinks, where the flavours are just right. When we tell our friends about these go-to spots, however, they suggest their own favourites, but of course they're wrong because those places make their drinks too strong, or there's too much ice, or it just doesn't feel right. If only there was a way you could prove your taste is really top notch...
Fortunately, there's a way you can solve the debate once and for all, when it comes to margaritas anyway. On 5 May, Craft Hospitality is hosting London Margarita Rumble, a festival which promises to find the best margaritas in town. Fifteen of London's best bars and restaurants are sending their mixologists to London Field Arches where they'll be serving up their concoctions for you to try, in the hope they'll win your vote. Nine Lives, 12:51 and Fontaine's are among the bars taking part. While Mexican restaurant Cafe Pacifico and high street favourite Benito's Hat are also offering up their tequila, lime and salt-based tipples for judgement. The margarita with the most tokens (aka votes) in the ballet box wins the title of Best Margarita in London.
Of course, to make well-informed judgements, drinks need to be sampled more than once. In light of this, the margaritas will be free-flowing throughout each session. A standard ticket gives you a two-hour session of unlimited margaritas, but with a VIP ticket, you get 45 more minutes, allowing ample time to explore the drinks on offer – whether they be frozen, straight up or on the rocks.
Finally, those in need of something to soak it all up with are in for a treat. James Cochran, 2018 winner of Great British Menu and head chef of 1251, is in charge of the kitchen.
