Goods Way, King's Cross

A glossy new hub for street food, cocktails, live music and dancing has opened in King's Cross. Called Goods Way (taking its name from the street it sits on), the multi-purpose venue is divided into three distinct areas. The Courtyard, home to five tantalising food outlets, is where to head if you’re looking to refuel. Much like hip and glossy Seven Dials Market (the first bricks-and-mortar home of street food collective KERB) and Soho’s Arcade Food Theatre (which houses several of London’s best restaurants in pop-up form), The Courtyard is distinctly elegant, boasting a stylish green framework and plants hanging low from the ceiling beneath a criss-cross of fairy lights.

Then there's a speakeasy-style, New Orleans-inspired cocktail den, Sweetwater, which hopes to become a leading destination for artfully created tipples. And for music lovers craving a new space to hear their favourite up-and-coming bands live, there’s Lafayette: a pared-back hall with a stage, a discreet bar, plenty of room for dancing and an upper mezzanine level for those who want to enjoy the music with a little bit of distance from the crowds. The 600-capacity space boasts rustic wooden interiors which lend it a stylish, old-worldly look and feel. Run by musicians – including Mumford and Sons band member Ben Lovett – it has all the right ingredients to become a popular gig venue in due course.


Sushi On Jones

Hoping to lure in the myriad local workers and businesses, Goods Way offers a menu that’s diverse and in line with contemporary palates. Excitingly, for fans of New York’s Sushi On Jones, the brand is making its first foray outside the US to launch a branch at Goods Way. Expect more of their signature clean dishes centred around quality fish.

Vegans and flexitarians will be making a beeline for the new branch of Temple of Seitan. The brand's plant-based ‘fried chicken’ has revolutionised end-of-night food in Hackney and Camden, and is set to prove similarly popular with those spilling out of Sweetwater, Lafayette and other neighbouring venues.


Breddos Tacos

A new branch of taqueria Breddos Tacos is also among the offering, serving up its roadside-style takes on Mexico’s much-loved dish. Duck Truck is there too, serving up duck-filled wraps, burgers and more.

For those who can’t get enough of the trend for seasonal small plates, it’s got to be Pomelo, a new British tapas restaurant from the team behind acclaimed eatery Lupins in Flat Iron Square. Fans of the team’s first restaurant will be pleased to hear that signature dishes, such as the crab thermidor croquettes and the cornmeal spring onions with chipotle mayonnaise, have made it onto the menu here too.
