Italian riviera living is conjured up all year round at the chic Selfridges rooftop, alto by San Carlo. But it's in summer when it comes to life, with sunshine dappling through the trailing vines and the scent of orange blossom in the air.
The menu revolves around classic Italian dishes made with the very best and seasonal ingredients. Pasta is a highlight, especially the rich ravioli burrata or classic carbonara. The lemon sole with baby clams and asparagus is a signature dish, as is the highly recommended chianina beef tagliata.
For dessert, opt for the Coppa Golosa: a giant bowl of chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla gelato topped with crushed Ferrero Rocher and warm Nutella sauce, or fogliatella shell shaped pastry filled with sweet ricotta cheese, candied orange pieces, topped with gelato and finished with a pistachio sauce. For the indecisive, dessert lover, there's a cicchetti platter with small tasters of every dessert on the menu, too.
