Afternoon tea at Petersham Nurseries, Covent Garden
The menu promises English and Italian treats created from seasonal ingredients
Petersham Nurseries, Covent Garden's iconic florist and dining destination, is launching its first afternoon tea menu. Served in the elegant setting of The Petersham, diners can enjoy their tea surrounded by contemporary art and vibrant floral displays. A major focus of the menu is seasonality and sustainability. Maintaining
the family’s passion for responsibly-sourced ingredients, Chef Director
Damian Clisby and The Petersham’s Head Chef Joseph Fox have together
developed a menu which will change seasonally.
The menu reflects the brand's combined English and Italian heritage by serving quintessentially English treats alongside Italian dolci. On the savoury side of things, diners can tuck into milk buns with a range of fillings, from Montgomery cheddar and chutney to Prosciutto di San Daniele. Meanwhile on the dessert front, white chocolate and raspberry choux features alongside Italian classics: Brutti ma Buoni, Torta della Nonna, and of course, cannoli. The Italian influence continues off the menu: the hand-blown Florentine glass cake-stand, glassware and crockery will be available to buy in the Covent Garden shop neighbouring the restaurant as well as online.
There is bound to be a more-than-ample selection of teas and coffees, but for those looking for something stronger, the restaurant serves an accompanying Tea Tails menu, offering botanical, tea infused cocktails including botanical ingredients like elderflower, chamomile, cardamom and rose. Alternatively, you can opt for a glass of Petersham's very own prosecco. An ideal way to fill that gap between afternoon shopping and an evening performance.
