The London Restaurant Festival will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, showcasing ten cuisines that highlight London's unparalleled gastronomic diversity and its position the world's culinary epicentre.
Starring at LRF 2018 will be Bill Granger of Granger & Co, flying in from Australia; the radical Thai chef Duangporn 'Bo' Songvisava of Bo Lan restaurant in Bangkok; and one of the world’s most decorated female chefs, Anne-Sophie Pic, who holds seven Michelin-stars will be hosting a dinner at her London restaurant La Dame De Pic.
Chef-hosted Festival dinners will include Ben Chapman at Kiln (recently voted the UK’s Best Restaurant in the 2018 National Restaurant Awards), Monica Galetti at Mere, and Adam Handling at The Frog.
Experiential dining, which explores the future of cuisine through a sensory, theatrical tasting menu, will take place at a unique pop-up; The HertzstuckTM Future Dining Room.
Also new for this year's festival, for two special evenings, luxury tea brand Newby Teas will take you on a cultural voyage through the history of tea, with a private tour and exclusive access to the world's rarest and largest privately owned collection of antique teawares, the Chitra Collection, followed by a tea-tasting masterclass.
Eat Art is a new event this year, fusing two of London’s great passions through an exclusive private view and dinner at the Saatchi Gallery. Also new is Eat Talk, which will delve into the minds of some of the industry’s best-known chefs, including the legendary Pierre Hoffmann who taught Gordon Ramsay, BBC Masterchef's Tom Kitchin and Aster's Helena Puolakka. Among many other chef luminaries taking part in Eat Talk, we also look forward to hearing from Andrew Wong of London's most lauded dim sum restaurant A Wong (soon to open a second restaurant at Bloomberg Arcade) and Michelin-starred husband and wife team James Knappett and Sandia Chang, who led the way in counter dining at the hyper-creative Kitchen Table.
A series of events will celebrate Thailand’s culinary scene and the impact it has had in London, including tasting menus in restaurants such as Kiln, Som Saa and Greyhound Cafe. There will also be an opportunity to win a trip to Thailand, with Thai Airways International, Amazing Thailand and Hyatt hotels. This year, Ultimate Gastronomic Weekends will feature a series of chef-led events and dining experiences. The first weekend will feature five high profile London chefs: Michel Roux Jr; Melissa Hemsley; Francesco Mazzei; Vivek Singh; and Wright Brother’s Richard Kirkwood.
The second weekend will feature five Michelin-starred restaurants, including Claude Bosi at Bibendum, Pascal Aussignac's Club Gascon, and Jason Atherton's Pollen City Social. Restaurant-Hopping Tours, an LRF staple, will explore some of London’s most exciting food neighbourhoods. including Chelsea’s Pavilion Road, St James's Market and Regent Street, as well as the newly revamped Battersea Power Station. Guests will enjoy a course at five different restaurants within the area, with drinks from the likes of Remy Martin, Zonin Prosecco, City of London Gin and paired wines selected by Chalié Richards wines. Devonshire Square will return this year, along with Estrella Galicia’s Tapas Tour and a spin around St Katharine Docks, showcasing the restaurants along the water’s edge. The London Restaurant Festival's 10th anniversary encompasses more than 60 events during the course of October – don't go hungry and reserve well ahead.
