Peters & Co Gin Palace, Broadway Market

“You may enter feeling optimistic and possibly leave ruined,” promises Peters & Co’s Gin Palace, making no bones about the reason to travel over to Broadway Market and embark on a night of gindulgence.

They do, however, make a good point – it is, in their words, “literally impossible” to be down when you’re drinking gin, and we recommend giving it a go at the end of a hard week. Or even a good one.

And, with Peters & Co offering 30 different gins, you’re spoilt for choice. There’s also a range of aptly named cocktails – we quite fancy “Phil Collins”, which in the Gin Palace is a combination of Portobello Road Gin, Wray & Nephew overproof rum, the sweet syrup Falernum and lime, rather than the ageing Genesis drummer.

If you’re not a gin lover, or just not in the mood for gin (although we can’t really think of an occasion that a good old G&T wouldn’t improve), the Palace has craft beer, English wine and homemade cordials. And don’t get so distracted by the drink that you forget they have food to wash down your gin, from cheese and charcuterie to gin and juniper smoked salmon.

The Palace – which has taken over evenings at the famous London landmark F Cooke Pie and Mash Shop – is open for “refined banter and unrefined company” from Thursdays to Saturdays until July, which means you have plenty of time to check it out. Plus, they’re holding gin masterclasses on Thursdays. Follow them on Facebook to find out more.
