Dickie Fitz, Fitzrovia

Antipodean cuisine takes over the former site of the Newman Street Tavern: new restaurant Dickie Fitz comes to Fitzrovia

Dickie Fitz restaurant
The Newman Street Tavern was steadily establishing itself as one of Fitzrovia's best restaurants, so the news of its closure came as a shock to it's steadfast fans (that's us included).

But as it turns out, the venue remains in safe hands, with the brains behind the former Tavern responsible for installing a new restaurant, 'Dickie Fitz' in its place. They also run Bloomsbury favourite The Lady Ottoline, and rarely seem to put a foot wrong.

It will continue to be open all day, and instead of its heavily British menu, it will be serving up 'dishes of the Pacific'. Think steamed barramundi with dashi roast cabbage and Daikion and Oysters kilpatrick. For those with a healthy outback appetite there's also a whole sucking pig shoulder to share, served up with five-spiced pumpkin.

Australian food rarely gets the royal treatment, and the Newman Street Tavern has never disappointed, so we're excited to try Dickie Fitz' intriguing antipodean cuisine.
