Steven Lamb of River Cottage Residency, The Imperial, Fulham

In case you didn’t have time to venture on a countryside mini-break over Valentine's Day weekend, a taste popular Devon-based restaurant River Cottage will be coming to London as chef Steven Lamb takes temporary residency at The Imperial Hotel in Fulham for Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February, from 6 to 10pm.

With kitchen proceedings overseen by The River Cottage's smoking and curing expert Steven Lamb, expect beautifully smoked food, plenty of ethically and seasonally sourced ingredients, and the very best of traditional British cuisine, served up by one of the country’s most revered culinary masters. Lamb teaches a number of courses at the Cookery School, and will aim to use the one-off menu to emphasise the mutual interest in sustainability among these two key players in gastronomical industry. Rural meets urban, then, as the River Cottage mantra will shape the menuThe Imperial on the King's Road for just two days next month.

Housed in a stunning Victorian building, The Imperial restaurant enjoys sleek but warm décor, with organic materials setting the main tone, wooden floors and copper lamps hanging from the ceiling.

Interested diners can make a reservation by ringing the Imperial directly on 0207 736 6081 – but be sure to do so fast. Their Friday evening residency is already sold out and Saturday only has a few places left. You can also book for Friday lunchtime, which had thirty seats available when we checked.
