Review Foxlow Stoke Newington: one of the best restaurants in East London
Wondering where to eat in Stoke Newington? Look no further, read our Foxlow review

It's a touch ironic that one of the best vegetarian meals in London comes courtesy of a steak joint. Usually veggie options are limited to a sad little goat's cheese tart and onion tart, or a soupy risotto, devoid of personality. Foxlow N16, though, does things a little differently.

The restaurant opened in 2012, a sibling to the original Foxlow Clerkenwell, and quickly became one of the best restaurants in Stoke Newington. It's perfect for the N16 neighbourhood: laid back, trendy and lived-in. Filled throughout with vintage furniture, dark wood, and soft light.

The food is nothing short of exquisite. The ricotta on sourdough was given a kick with orange zest and depth with thyme. The tomato salad was a lesson in flavour: the sweetness of the heritage tomatoes was beautiful with the creamy, feta-like Graceburn cheese.

Mains were even better. The 35 day-aged sirloin was so tender, the knife went through it like butter. The accompanying peppercorn sauce was thick and rich, and the skin-on fries so good that we had to order another portion. The vegetarian main was heaven; ricotta dumplings, broad beans. shelled peas.

We left very full and very happy. A tour de force; if you're in the neighborhood, we urge you to go.
