There’s a back-to-basics trend in urban foodie culture with restaurateurs and pop-up gurus re-vamping the humble hot dog or burger. Sometimes they glamorise these foods beyond visible and sensory recognition – and not always for the better - but Pizza Pilgrims keeps it simple and authentic. Founding brothers Thom and James Elliot source most of their ingredients directly from the home of pizza, Naples and they are fast becoming an established institution on the small but hotly contested London pizza circuit.
They have travelled extensively through the Italian countryside, learning the secrets of the trade, and are happy to share their secrets with you. They are holding classes every day from 3pm-6pm until the end of January. Classes cost £40 per head, with a maximum group size of 8 people and no minimum class size. Book your spot by emailing bookings@pizzapilgrims.co.uk. They’ve even got a take-home kit – all the ingredients you need to make a pizza in your frying pan at home.
Ab Fab’s Edina and Patsy may have hurried past the van on the Fifth Floor of their favourite department - too many carbs, darling - but don’t let that stop you. Not only are they tasty but, at £6 for a margherita, they're incredibly cheap for Harvey Nix.
