Alcoholic Architecture: Breathable Alcohol, Bompas & Parr
Ever dreamt of a cloud made of cocktails? Experience the real thing at Bompas & Parr's new breathable alcohol project, Alcoholic Architecture.
Quirky London bars are taking on new dimensions
Bompas and Parr are well known about town for their whacky and wonderful food- and drink-related experiences. This time they're back with something even bigger and possibly more bizarre than usual – and we can't wait.
A Breathable Alcoholic Bar in Borough Market
Alcoholic Architecture in the heart of Borough Market is opening on 31 July, introducing a completely novel and immersive way to drink with friends. The quirky duo invite you to into a Victorian ex-monastery and lose yourself in an alcohol mist so thick that you can't see a metre ahead. Not only will guests inhale their eclectic mix of cocktails but, since the alcohol enters the bloodstream through the body's mucus membranes, their eyeballs will be drinking some in too.
Cocktails curated by monks?
In classically extravagant Bompas and Parr style, everything from interior, to staff uniform, to ambience has been meticulously designed to create the perfect immersive experience. Taking much inspiration from the vast and varied history of the venue, the entire drinks list is comprised of spirits and beers created by monks, with many of the ingredients also sourced from Borough Market itself.
Enhanced flavour perception
Apparently, the limited vision and the high humidity level enhances flavour perception, and as an added bonus, breathing in these quirky cocktails means that the alcohol bypasses the liver, so you need forty percent less booze to get you feeling just as jolly.
But be warned – you'll be asked to wear a special suit to protect yourself from the vaporizing alcohol, and hence be forced to look like you're waiting for a storm, but hey – nobody can see you for the fog anyway!
If you're in an adventurous mood and want to try one of the many quirky bars in London, this might be just the one for you this summer. After all, how often have you been advised to 'breathe responsibly'?
