New Ottolenghi restaurant, 'Sesame'
A new street food bar specialising in the tastes of the Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean is opening up in Covent Garden this Friday (15th), from world famous chef Yotam Ottolenghi’s franchise.
Inspired by the grills and market stalls of North Africa, Palestine, Turkey and Yemen, Sesame restaurant will serve a selection of made-to-order pittas, kebab skewers and prepared salads, as well as breakfast options.
Noam Bar
Overseen by Noam Bar, one of the founders of Ottolenghi, Sesame restaurant will bring the same authoritative grasp of time-honoured Arab and Mediterranean ingredients and techniques as Bar, along with Sami Tamimi and Yotam himself, has made the calling card of the original restaurant chain.

Their lineup of pittas at the new Ottolenghi restaurant Sesame includes lemon and za’atar chicken with hummus and Sabick, an Iraqi specialty of roasted aubergine and egg with tahini and amba, while salads include cauliflower and pomegranate and beetroot with orange, honey and labneh.
For the inexperienced, the Sesame restaurant website is wonderfully informative, with profiles of their more obscure ingredients and a menu featuring a click-through summary of everything that goes into each dish, including dietary information.
Sesame restaurant, Covent Garden
Situated on bustling Garrick Street, the new Ottolenghi restaurant Sesame, Covent Garden will open from 7am for breakfast, including pitta ‘paninis’ or greek yoghurt with date molasses, and will stay open late each day. Standards are as high when it comes to decor as they are for the food, with Levantine-style tiling and charming brickwork.
