Grain Store Unleashed

The many devotees of the King’s Cross Grain Store will be champing at the bit to try this new venture from head chef Bruno Loubet. For a limited time, Grain Store Unleashed has taken up residence at The Zetter Hotel: one of the more unusual restaurants in Clerkenwell. The King’s Cross restaurant has been a firm favourite for a while, the perfect spot for a weekend lunch in the off-beat surroundings of Granary Square.
At Grain Store Unleashed, Loubet and his team are letting their creativity loose, experimenting with wild combinations, and, as ever, the focus will be on the vegetables.
In the morning, there is a selection of classic breakfast fare, such as their take on a full English breakfast and warm pastries, as well as the odd curve-ball – a pea pancake, for instance. The lunchtime à la carte menu is short but sweet, featuring a choice of 7 mains, from kohlradi and broad bean ravioli to pulled lamb shoulder and spring vegetable cassoulet. At dinnertime, however, the spotlight turns on Loubet’s 3 new tasting menus. Think of it as the Grain Store, but turned up another notch in terms of refinement and flair.
You have the choice of 4, 6, or an all-out 8 courses, which are composed of delicate portions of the dishes available à la carte; perfect for those of us who like to try a little of everything. Carnivores never fear; although Loubet’s enthusiasm for the humble vegetable is legendary, the menus feature wood pigeon and trout amongst other fauna.
If you haven’t quite had ample sufficiency by that point, the dessert menu’s parsnip and white chocolate cream sounds frankly too bizarre to pass up. We advise booking in advance, as Grain Store Unleashed has been constantly bustling since the day it first opened its doors: the already buzzing array of restaurants in Clerkenwell have a much lauded new member.
