Flat Three, Holland Park

Japanese restaurant in Holland Park has been winning the hearts of West London's in-the-know foodies.

Flat Three, Holland Park
Flat Three, formerly a Japanese-influenced supperclub run out of co-founder Juliana Moustakas' home has just opened the doors at its new permanent site in Holland Park.
The brainchild of Moustakas and Pavel Kanja, Flat Three promises 'a new approach to Japanese-inspired food', with Korean and Scandinavian influences – including the Swedish Bräckt (a dish of turbot and trout), as well as experiments with fermented rice, ama koji porridge and sencha ice cream.
Kanja learned his trade at the renowned Wabi, with the similarly renowned Scott Hallsworth (whose Kurobuta spots in Marble Arch and Chelsea are leading a surge in popularity of Japanese izakaya houses). Try his cold smoked salmon with jeung je and soy or pickled bream with lettuce kobu jime and sweet miso, but be warned, portions are certainly on the small side of 'small plates'.
The new 40-cover space features a large-party dining table, at which the team serve up a nine-course tasting menu, while a la carte is available across the remaining tables. They're taking drinks seriously too, with a small wine list curated for pairing. Expect light wines – Rieslings and Pinot Noirs – and a selection of unique, crafted cocktails to match every dish.
