Johnnie Crowe at the Bell
Chef Johnnie Crowe continues his residency with an eight course tasting menu at The Bell in Aldgate.
Johnnie Crowe has recently made the step from self-taught pop-up chef to in-house resident at one of Aldgate's more charming pubs, The Bell. Whilst overseeing the regular lunch and evening service, however, Johnnie still finds the time to host his monthly pop-up dining experience in the Bell's airy but well-worn upstairs space, where he shows off his fine dining flair under the Johnnie's Tastes banner.
Serving up an eight course tasting menu, Johnnie's Tastes aims for a no-fuss, down-to-earth fine dining service in the relaxed and informal surrounds of the Bell, Aldgate. Diners will get a chance to meet the chef himself and get an insight into his craft, as well as sampling a broad but simple menu, taking inspiration from modern European cuisine.
This month's menu opens with venison biltong and pumpkin gnocchi with Comte. After seafood courses including oysters and oak-smoked salmon, guests get to sample Johnnie's take on classic steak tartar. Following that comes a succulent game dish of pigeon breast and leg with rhubarb, and, to satisfy sweet cravings there's a dessert of classic chocolate pudding, with cheese to finish.
Two dates are now available for late March – book via email, or by contacting The Bell.
