'Look, no butter!' supper club by Peyton & Byrne
Among the latest pop up events London has to offer this supper club from Peyton & Byrne – caterers for some of the most fashionable restaurants in London – serves up a healthy January feast.
How's that post-Christmas detox going? If you're struggling for inspiration, then 'Look, no Butter!' one of Peyton and Byrne's best London supper clubs, might just be for you. The London health-food restaurant's latest event is taking place next week at the Keeper's House, a beautifully-rendered space snuggled in the gorgeous surrounds of the Royal Academy. Healthy places to eat in London need not be a soulless experience, and thanks to chef Emma Duggan's unique vision, the healthy supper club will be serving up a five-course seasonal selection of immunity-boosting and detoxing dishes to keep your new year's resolutions on track, in a very stylish setting.
The evening will begin with an amuse bouche of pickled and raw vegetable tartar, salsa verde with dehydrated pumpernickel crumb followed by their delectable-sounding starter of roast beetroots with kohlrabi and walnuts. For mains, diners are treated to venison and root vegetable casserole, green kale, which they promise is learner than a skinned chicken breast, high in iron, and full of omega 3.
To continue in a healthy vein that clearly doesn't compromise on flavour, the evening will be rounded off with a sweet but surprisingly low-carb dessert of baked apples, stuffed with sultanas, dried apricots and pomegranate, lemon and honey glaze. And, to accompany all this light, healthy offerings is a selection of stylish vegetable and fruit mocktails, served alongside fresh mint tea with ginger and other herbal infusions.
All this will be happening in the company of P&B's resident expert nutritionist Nick Owen (founder of What Food), who'll be filling diners in on the science behind the succulence. Nick will be on hand throughout to talk detox tips and nutritional advice, so don't miss the chance to put your questions to a man in the know.
Peyton and Byrne are the renowned group behind a number of London's smartest venues, including The National Dining Room, the British Library, and the National Gallery's in-house rooftop restaurant, which boasts views over Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall alongside an excellent pre-theatre menu and charming staff. So if you're looking for places to eat, Dry January troopers, head to the Keeper's House and treat yourself – without treating yourself.
