En Brochette, The Star of King’s Cross
Residency El Brochette joins restaurant and late night London venue, Star of Kings. Among N1's must try restaurants, it takes a different approach to its sister in Bethnal Green, reworking the humble kebab.
Twinned with the ever-successful The Star of Bethnal Green, The Star of Kings is a homely pub in King’s Cross, replete with open fire for the cold winter nights and a host of DJs and bands packing their night time programme with endless entertainment. For foodies though, it is their three month kitchen residencies that draw the most attention. Having just hosted the pop up kitchen KOME, serving up the best of LA street food, they will now be facilitating the skewered delights of London’s pop-up duo Ika Kutateladze and Paul John.
Their brainchild, En Brochette, was inspired by the pair’s visit to Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in the South of France. Brochette (skewered meats and vegetables) was the cuisine on which they concluded and their current menu includes such mouth watering concoctions as: slow cooked pork with truffled apple sauce, barely cooked salmon provincial, lemon rubbed artichoke and sweet potato and artichoke. Other quirks include Bloody Mary prawn shots and wine soaked steak with ‘naughty poivre sauce’. With an ever changing specials board that include the brochette’s global counterparts – the souvlaki, yakitori, shish, satays and kebabs – En Brochette promises to offer a slice of global cuisine ‘on a very British stick’.
