As the world watches Rio for the 2014 World Cup, slick Soho bar Archer Street is getting in on the Brazilian action with the launch of its own Latin-themed seasonal bar, Barzinho.
Expect plenty of sunshine and Carnival. The bar is decked out in vintage football posters, palm leaves, feathers, graffiti and has a resident samba DJ.
The mixology team have a whole host of exciting cocktails planned, but the star of the bar is certain to be Brazil’s legendary cocktail the Caipirinha. This is made with Caçhaca—the country’s most popular distilled spirit, which is made from sugarcane juice.
Bar manager Benjamin Purslow’s has come up with his own award-wining version, the Redeemer: infused with açai berries, Campari-infused goji berries, fresh passionfruit juice and lime – and includes a sweet which alters the flavours. Everyone who orders a Caipirinha gets a Brazilian Bonfim wish bracelet.
