For ten days in May, the team from Mayfair's Indian street food-inspired restaurant, Roti Chai, will return to the Southbank Centre, as restaurant-in-residence, during the annual Alchemy Festival; a smorgasbord of artistic talent, featuring musicians, dancers, comedians, etc., that celebrate South Asian culture .
The Chaat Shack and Chai Bar will take over Festival Village; an area, tucked away underneath the Queen Elizabeth Hall, which was constructed through the help of the local community and volunteers. Rohit Chugh, founder of Roti Chai, has designed a menu that offers a variety of ‘soul food’ chaats; fried savoury snacks, normally served out of food carts, which can be found throughout South Asia. Dishes will include chilli-chicken buns, traditional masala chai and Monsoon Malabar coffee. This is accompanied by an Asian drinks list, featuring cocktails with an Indian touch, including Kovalam Beach Kick and the Alchemy Gin-Ji. as well as the classic Indian beer, Kingfisher.
