Pique-Nique restaurant, Bermondsey

Already a fan of much-loved bistro Casse-Croûte? Rejoice – the Bermondsey gastro-bastion is expecting a sister, Pique-Nique.

Pique-Nique will specialise in Poulet de Bresse
There's a host of reasons to visit Borough other than the market. Omeara is reinventing nightlife nearby, and Bermondsey Street has a wealth of top eateries including compact, traditional French bistro Casse-Croûte, which is now spawning a sibling – Pique-Nique on nearby Tanner Street.

Pique-Nique is just as authentic as Casse. Owner Hervé Durochat and his team have been renovating an Edwardian building, and the new eatery has now opened, and it's similarly as intimate as Casse, housing only forty seats.

The plan is to offer a daily breakfast menu, alongside lighter lunch options than those offered at Casse-Croûte, and an evening a La Carte.

By far the most exciting thing on the opening menu will be the rotisserie Poulet de Bresse – a breed of chicken exclusively sourced from eastern France. That and a glass of white wine recommended by Durochat’s chosen sommelier, Alex Bonnefoy, already has our mouths watering.
