Brother Marcus spring supper clubs, Balham

Blink and you'll miss this year's special spring-time supper clubs hosted by new kid on the block Brother Marcus in Balham

Food by London Food Babes
Pop-up London is nothing new; but where in London will a rotation of up-and-coming chefs be gracing the kitchen of one achingly cool little neighbourhood joint this spring?

Balham's burgeoning foodie scene makes this South London neighbourhood a dining destination that's worth braving the Northern Line for. Brother Marcus is a little place that opened last spring, originally as a brunch and coffee hangout before expanding to dinner and cocktails. Now they take diners on a culinary adventure with a series of supper clubs running throughout the spring.

Six different chefs will feature on various dates, so you can expect to sample everything from not-so-traditional roasts to a six-course Chinese extravaganza.

Our highlights include:

Chicory Kitchen - Various dates
Mother and daughter duo Eve George and Hanna Plimmer are offering up three different Persian inspired set menus over three weekends. For £28 per head, you can enjoy contemporary middle-eastern meals, such as pulled lamb shoulder with pomegranate molasses, or stuffed vine leaves with whipped feta and smoked aubergine.

Sam Stern - 6/7/8 April
If you like your flavours a little closer to home, then supper club superstar Sam Stern's authentic British flavour might be more up your street. The young chef has already made a name for himself on the pop-up scene and his first book, Cooking up a Storm, made a big impression back in 2005. From £22 you can expect a four-course menu of traditional grub, spruced up for the discerning Londoner and served to share family-style at communal tables.

Elote - 9/10/11 March
You'll have to be quick if you want to catch Alex Hutton's Elote menu – the former head chef of Caravan at King's Cross lands at Brother Marcus on the second weekend of March. Experimental southern-Mexican cuisine on a fully gluten-free menu, this is everyone's favourite comfort food re-invented. The flourless chocolate cake with tequila white chocolate sauce is the real star of the show here, so save room for dessert. From £34 per head for sharing platters.
