The Dead Rabbit at Claridges
Voted the World's Best Bar in 2016, the New York-based Irish drinking tavern, The Dead Rabbit, rolls its unruly wagons into Claridge's Bar for a one-week exclusive takeover. Widely acknowledged to serve the best cocktails in the world, expect a refined selection of their much-loved signature cocktails, plus the world's finest Irish coffee. The second-floor parlour of the 19th-century-style bar has been recreated in Claridges, complete with ragtime piano and authentic New York-style service, bringing Manhattan to the heart of Mayfair for one week only.
Although bookings are now closed, you are welcome to turn up and the team will do their best to find you a table. It will definitely be worth the wait.
The Dead Rabbit pop-up is at Claridge's from 15-22 August, 2017. Claridges, Brook Street, Mayfair, London W1K 4HR. Mon - Sat: 12 noon to 1am, Sun – 12 noon to midnight. More information.
The Sundowner Bar at Jumeirah Carlton Tower
This well-established luxury spot in Knightsbridge is throwing open the doors to its members club for the summer. At nine floors high, the view is actually pretty good, certainly far better than you get from Oxford Street rooftop bars. The food and drink is classic, but at the same time it bears in mind current trends. The Loch Fyne salmon arrives with crumbled taco, avocado and rocket, and sups include a peach Bellini and a damn fine negroni.
Open now until late-August, Cadogan Place, London SW1X 9PY. Mon - Sun: 10.00am - 8.00pm. More information
The Elephant at The Gardening Society, John Lewis Rooftop
This smart, bank-side terrace has been re-imagined as a Spanish vineyard for the summer, complete with olive trees, and brightly coloured furniture. You'll be more interested in the drinks, though, which are variations of the classic spritzes and tonics you'd think of when you're cooling down. Camino also have a penchant for G&Ts, so watch out for those.
From June 8th, book a table here, open evenings only, 5 Canvey Street, SE1 9AN
Nest: Summer in the Square
Bring your own booze to mix with Nest's home-infused cordials, but, whatever you're drinking, the menu of this pop-up on Finsbury Square is bound to be a delight. Focused on reinventing British classics, Nest's ever-adapting menu only features one type of meat, cooked as many ways as you can imagine. Whatever the cut or animal, it will likely be accompanied by novel versions of the classic sides you'd expect of a Sunday Roast (we hear the crackling is sensational). In September, Nest transfers for one more month to the riverside in Hammersmith.
The Nest has now sadly closed for the summer, but the goof news is that it returns to London's Hammersmith riverside for one more month in September
Bonnie Gull Mayfair
This celebrated British seafood shack with locations in Soho and Fitzrovia is launching a pop-up. Find it tucked away in Brown Hart Gardens in Mayfair. Serving from breakfast to dinner, dishes swerve from light poached eggs and salmon, to octopus carpaccio with soy, ginger and chilli or a seafood platter with crab, lobster, langoustines, and rock oysters – anything that celebrates the best of British produce. Although the food is obviously seafood heavy, there are a fair few vegan options on the menu.
From May 29th throughout summer, 8am - late, and there's no reservations. The Garden Café, 4 Brown Hart Gardens, London W1K 6TD
The Bussey Beer Garden, Bussey Building
London Beer Factory will be setting up a rooftop craft beer pop-up in Copeland Park, Peckham. Opening Friday 7 July, BusseyBeer Garden will feature 15 different beers on tap (plus plenty of other refreshments), and delicious kebabs provided by the BABEK Brothers. With a curated selection of craft beer and incredible views of the city, this is one event beer enthusiasts won't want to miss.
