Wilderness Festival, Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire
If you like festivals that offer plenty of zing with a side of zen then head to the wonderland of the Wilderness Festival this summer
Stay wild, flower child! Embrace the great outdoors and dance the night away – with an added dose of fine dining, naked swimming, secret theatre and much, much more – at Wilderness Festival.
Set in Oxfordshire's Cornbury Estate, Wilderness boasts the world-class musicians of the standard music festival – plus all kinds of culture and a colourful array of food stalls and banquets. A myriad of creative opportunities await in the art studio, crafts village and beyond. And there is always the chance to regain your inner calm at the meditation and yoga classes.
Banish thoughts of rubbery burgers and tepid cider: Wilderness is about as gourmet as it gets. There are banquets and feasts by the likes of Angela Hartnett and Wilderness veteran Yotam Ottolenghi, as well as new chefs making a splash on the food circuit.
Talking of splashes, there is also a beautiful lake, perfect for boating and a dip – a swim is one of the Wilderness rites of passage.
The Lake
Big name CHIC ft. Nile Rogers will be bringing the disco and the good times on the main stage. Other headliners include the atmospheric-pop band Bastille and Groove Armada who will take over the DJ decks until the early hours.
For the bibliophiles, Letters Live is making its second appearance at the festival with a top-secret line-up of star guests (last year they had Tom Hollander and Benedict Cumberbatch).
All this, along with the picture-book pretty countryside, makes Wilderness the loveliest place to lose yourself this summer.
