CelebrASIA, Battersea Power Station

There will be mind-boggling varieties of food, crafts, decorations, jewellery... you name it, if it hails from South East Asia it will feature at CelebrASIA, a weekend festival in and around Battersea Power Station.

The aim is to divulge the particularly rich and enticing cultures of that part of world, but do so in an enjoyable and entertaining fashion attractive to all the family. The ambience is set by special decorations that will transport the visitor to faraway lands: hundreds of lanterns will hang under Grosvenor Bridge, there will be immersive Beca and Tuk Tuk installations in Turbine Hall A, as well as, of course! elephant sculptures; and the Electric Boulevard will provide the setting for a colourful kite show.

South East Asian food is increasingly popular in this country, but I daresay we've only experienced a fraction of its flavours. Visitors to CelebrAsia will be able to add to their knowledge and enjoyment of these most flavoursome cuisines by tasting the offerings of a number of renowned chefs and street vendors.

Visitors who like to pitch in can book a session at the Arts and Crafts Workshop in Turbine Hall A to learn regional crafts,, such as batik; and there will be plenty to keep the children entertained, including free face painting, art activities and crafts sessions. There is also an interactive Grand Tour, which will take young explorers on a journey through South East Asia with fun quizzes and souvenir passports.

There will be live performances, too, and on Sunday 15th September, at The Cinema in the Power Station there will be a special screening of the 2015 Thai drama, Cemetery of Splendour, written and produced by Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Note: all crafts etc sessions must be booked in advance. Full information here
