First look: Zayn Malik and Donatella Versace collaboration

ZXV is here! That's the acronym for Zayn X Versus that emblazons the chokers, elastic, biker jackets and labels of Zayn Malik's capsule collection for Versace. You'll be able to buy it this week.

The Zayn x Versus collection is part of Versace's diffusion line, which has a reputation for sexy denim and short dresses. Donatella runs a tight ship when it comes to her clothing lines, and tight is the operative word.

It's no surprise then, that Zayn's looks feature short, stretchy skirts alongside the leather jackets and branded chokers. Yes, it's hardly leather weather now, but you better buy fast or you'll be kicking yourself when it sells out.



Zayn Malik, R&B singer, former One Direction bandmember, boyfriend of model Gigi Hadid, and... fashion designer? He releases this collaboration with fashion's empress Donatella Versace after collaborating on a photo shoot this spring. He's been stepping out in the designer's lines often in the last year.

The collaboration started when Zayn and Gigi appeared at the Met Ball last May, with Malik donning a robotic arm made by Versace.



Bella Hadid, supermodel and sister of Gigi, models the collection. There is a debt to Dior's SS17 collection, with shades of Calvin Klein alongside the usual Versus swagger. The mens and womenswear shares the same print – woodcut-esque block prints forming 'Z' lettering.

Zayn's Instagram released some teaser trailers – the latest of which shows Bella wearing a series of outfits from the range – the lace-up leather and the sporty bralets have caught our eye. It's brash, it's poppy, it's cool – it's definitely Versus Versace, and it has hints of a young man breaking his boyband mould, too.
