World of Watches, Harrods
World of Watches brings two days of talks from industry leaders to Harrods. Hear speakers from Breitling, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Hublot and more
Knightsbridge's luxury haven, Harrods, is hosting two days of talks celebrating the design, artistry and technology of watches. World of Watches focuses primarily on men's watches and speakers representing leading brands will discuss the intricacies of 'haute horology' by touching upon the past, present, and future of watchmaking. The programme also includes an impressive array of modern day adventurers and sport stars who will share stories about their greatest challenges and achievements and how passion and determination has kept them ticking.
Highlights include Olympic sailor, five-time world champion and Ulysse Nardin ambassador Sebastien Destremau talking about undertaking his greatest nautical feat yet in Ulysse Nardin: Sailing Through Challenges (14 June, 12pm). Adventurer, environmentalist and Breitling ambassador David de Rothschild discusses crossing the Pacific, ocean pollution and the Breitling Superocean Heritage II collection in Breitling: Exploration & The Environment (14 June 3.30pm). Former cricketer and 43rd test captain of the Australian team Michael Clarke shares his views on this year's World Cup and Ashes series in Hublot: Clearing The Boundary (14 June, 4.30pm). On Saturday, you can sit in on a special Q&A hosted by Robin Swithinbank with pilot Steve Boultbee-Brooks who circumnavigated the world in an original Spitfire in IWC Schaffhausen: The Longest Flight (15 June, 11am).
The event will also have a 'Watch Doctor' on hand to help with any repairs and offer advice on keeping your timepieces running smoothly. If you're fretting about which watch goes with a black-tie event, a 'Style Council' will also be available to offer advice on pairing watches with outfits and occasions.
