UNIQLO exhibition at Somerset House: The Art and Science of LifeWear, New Form Follows Function
A UNIQLO exhibition at Somerset House brings a series of awe-inspiring digital and interactive installations to London this Fashion Week
Tokyo-headquartered apparel giant Uniqlo has opened the doors to a very special exhibition in Somerset House to celebrate London Fashion Week. London is the first city where UNIQLO opened a store outside of Japan back in 2001, making it a poignant home for this project.
The annual exhibition showcases UNIQLO and LifeWear, a concept that serves as the brands foundation to continue evolving the beauty, function and simplicity of modern clothing.
'LifeWear is in our pursuit of Deep Thoughtfulness, a heartfelt empathy for our customer which expresses itself through clothing. You see it in our love of Practical Beauty, which emphasizes the truth that simple can also be beautiful. You see it in our embrace of Restless Optimism and our commitment to Constant Innovation,' reads a sign at introduction of the exhibition.
Within the exhibition space, installations highlight a variety of products and the manufacturing processes and technologies involved in creating them. From the canopy of clothing that greets you on arrival to an immersive and interactive 3D exploration of HEATTECH, the exhibition is a a riot of colourful technology, fabric mazes and information. Themed zones demonstrate UNIQLO’s constant innovation, quality, value and impressive sustainability. Visitors are also able to shop exclusive collaboration items that are on sale at a coinciding pop-up store.
A joyful feat of science and imagination, and not one to miss if you're in the area.
