Riccardo Tisci debut Burberry collection

Tisci's hotly anticipated debut collection stays true to heritage (with a little added punk)

Riccardo Tisci debut Burberry collection
Since his appointment as Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, critics have questioned how Riccardo Tisci will cement a new identity for the legacy brand.

Guests gathered on armchairs and cushioned benches inside a mirror-filled post-office warehouse on Monday, to watch as Tisci made his debut as CFO of Burberry. Complete with one hundred and thirty-four looks, the SS19 collection seamlessly bridged Tisci's aesthetics-led design with Burberry's century-old heritage, leaving London saluting the designer and fears for the fate of the brand banished.

With a delicate palette of black, beige, coral, red and blues, he tackled the brand's signature trench coat, brought colour, pixie-crops and utilitarian flourishes into the mix, and ultimately debuted a collection that was sleek, elegant and coolly assured.

Bravo.
