International Fashion Showcase: Somerset House

New designers from around the world reveal their works at Somerset House this London Fashion Week 2016

International Fashion Showcase: Somerset House
It's London Fashion Week, which means there's a long list of glittering events to attend... if your name is Anna Wintour or Gigi Hadid. If you've not got an invite to the Frow this week, then Fashion Utopias: the International Fashion Showcase 2016, is the place to discover designers from around the world.

Somerset House is playing host to a series of specially commissioned and curated fashion installations featuring work by emerging designers from 24 countries. Created by the British Council and British Fashion Council, it is a key part of the London Fashion Week public programme which forms a city-wide celebration of fashion that is open to all.

Inspired by Somerset House's exhibition Utopia 2016: A Year of Imagination and Possibility, the West Wing has been transformed into an imaginary terrain exploring different visions of Utopia as designed by an emerging generation of international designers and curators.

Highlights from the exhibition include Thomas More's vision of Utopia by the Czech Republic, capturing free-sprited design, and Indonesia's revision of modestwear that represents an essential element - earth, fire, water and wind - and their search for the elusive unifying with element. A prize-giving ceremony scheduled for London Fashion Week February 2016, chaired by a panel of industry experts will announce a winning Country and Designer, as well as a Curator Award sponsored by Bonaveri. The panel is headed by Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and European Editor-at-Large of Vogue.com.
