Don't Stop Now: Fashion Photography Next (II)
New fashion photography displayed at the Fashion Space Gallery.
Fashion photography is having a moment. With the Guy Bourdin retrospective in full flow at Somerset House, and the Horst: Photographer of Style at the V&A receiving critical acclaim, it seems fitting that a new exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery should pick up on this theme, and look forward to fashion photography's future.
One of the new fashion exhibitions London offers is an exciting glimpse into the wealth of contemporary practices in fashion photography. This has resulted in a dynamic, colourful and multi-faceted display. Explaining the concept behind the show curator Magdalene Keaney said, “If someone tells you not to stop it means you must be doing something good to begin with! The title of this exhibition is intended as a clarion call.”
Featuring photographers who push the boundaries of fashion photography and who are developing new and radical ways to progress their art, this exhibition brings together the industry’s most exciting and maverick talent. The exhibition works on a two part series, with the first display entertaining audiences earlier in the year.
Whilst part one focussed on themes of materiality and play, this new section is curated with a view to unpacking approaches in contemporary fashion photography – Artifice and Authenticity.
If one needed further convincing, Don't Stop Now is run with the support of Amsterdam's Foam, a leading gallery for contemporary photography and an sure indication that this exhibition will comprise of an immaculate selection of thought provoking images.
