Fashion trends: 2019

Logomania endures, puffers rule, and nautical style sails in as the 2019 fashion trends merge practicality and extravagence

Logomania lives on

When rapper and aspiring designer Magnus Julio tweeted a picture-series of himself modelling a jumpsuit printed with Louis Vuitton logos, and matching 3D printed charms beaded into his braids, a hybrid of fashion-media frenzy ensued.

Not only was the move an ingenious way of scoring an internship with fashion demi-god Virgil Abloh, but testament to the enduring popularity of last year's logomania into 2019.

Power-puffers

The puffer jacket, down-feathered and duvet-like, has become championed for its sartorial prowess as well as its pillowy protection against the elements.

The bigger the better, and extra points for jazzed-up numbers (think metallics and neon à la Prada, or floor length à la Isabel Marant).

Coloured tights takeover

Whether scarlet, lilac, cream or icy, pale blue, coloured tights are officially a digestible trend since they stormed runways (notably Saks Potts, Adam Selman and Jacquemes).

If you're on the lookout for some inspiration on how to join the rainbow-legged movement, Scandi tastemaker @hannastefansson is pioneering it.

Belt up your blazer

Blazers are becoming increasingly cinched and belted at the waist.

The rosy, belted Chanel suit that Keira Knightley wore to receive the Queen's honour at Buckingham Palace cemented the trend as one to watch this month.

Nouveau-nautical

From sailor-whites and breton stripes to the tough and hardy leather of fishermen's anoraks, there's plenty of inspiration rolling in from the sea this year.

Miu Miu's striped wool pullover (pictured) leads the way, with the renaissance of the raincoat spearheaded by brands such as Denmark's Shelter, closely in tow.

Sage, pistachio, seafoam...

Softer shades of green are fast becoming the antidote to harsher limes and neons that are far easier to pull off on the runway than in real life.

This structured, sage-green & Other Stories jacket has been flying off shelves and landing on the feeds of prominent influencers, and we have a special place in our hearts for this croc, bucket-bag from Trademark.

Boiler suits go glam

The boiler suit may have its roots in utility, but it's now the effortless, sure-fire way to be bang on trend ahead of spring/summer '19.

Serving as both a lazy day solution and a savvy evening piece, it's high time to invest in a boiler suit.

Tied up in a bow

Whether plaited into your hair or fixed at the small of your back on your new favourite dress, bows are romancing the fashion set.

Tie-dyed and techni-coloured

Whether the prospect makes you rejoice or recoil, tie-dye garments have come steaming back into prominence ahead of SS19.

Tie-dye designs sashayed down Prada and Proenza's runways, and are well on their way to working their way into the high-street.
