London pop-up by Klarna now open
Free beauty treatments and styling sessions plus Instagrammable interiors - is this the future of retail?
Swedish pay later giant Klarna has opened an immersive retail pop-up in Covent Garden showcasing fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. Open until 12 June only, the quirky shop space is the brand's way of showing that stores can still thrive in real life - as long as retailers are prepared to offer something extraordinary.
Leading by example, the two storey pop-up space has been transformed into a positive 'play area' for shoppers with Instagrammable visual displays, daily fashion and lifestyle events and free refreshments and entertainment.
As for the shopping, well that comes courtesy of some of your favourite online fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands - from ASOS and Finery, to Beauty Bay and Swoon - bringing your digital shopping experience to life. There will also be a chance to get to know some newer names on the block.
To help you on this journey of discovery there are complimentary activities ranging from styling sessions by industry experts, beauty treatments to a yoga class and meditation session.
Activities designed to make the most of your weekend include DJ sets on Saturday, followed by a Sunday chill-out session with coffee and smoothies served all day.
This is a rare opportunity to get hands-on with digital only brands, while having fun in a quirky retail environment. We'd expect nothing less from Klarna, a name avid online shoppers will recognize from the check out section of their favourite etailers including Cos, Arket and Acne Studios.
Since it launched in 2015, Klarna has taken away many of the frustrations of online shopping - for both customers and retailers - and offers three ways to purchase: pay now, pay later or pay in installments.
Luke Griffiths, general manager of Klarna UK says of the pop-up: 'Anyone who knows Klarna, knows we like to do things differently. Whilst we believe payments should be smoooth, we also believe the overall shopping experience should be inspiring...
We’re delighted to be able to create this unique and collaborative space, bringing together some really cool brands to demonstrate what’s possible with a little imagination and lots of passion.'
The Klarna Pop-Up is now open to the public daily until 12 June, 9-11 Shorts Gardens, Covent Garden, WC2H 9AT. Click here to see the programme of free events and apply for tickets.
