how to: Contemporary Dance – A Masterclass with Rambert
The how to: Academy and the UK's best established dance troupe demonstrate how choreographies are conceived and made...
Ever wondered what goes on behind the beauty of contemporary dance? The how to: Academy is quelling curiosity with an exclusive masterclass to reveal the elements that build this mysterious art form.
An intimate audience will be invited inside legendary dance company Rambert’s brand new headquarters for a behind the scenes dance experience. As the UK’s oldest dance group, Rambert is renowned for championing inventive and diverse new dances. Their world-class troupe of dancers will give a live performance to demonstrate how contemporary dance is at once an innovation from and the inspiration of more traditional ballet steps.
To enrich this visual experience Rambert’s Artistic Director, Mark Baldwin, will provide a comprehensive explanation of the whole choreography process – spanning the inspiration behind composition, the testing and teaching process, to the final performance. As the man behind Rambert’s 2010 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in dance, Mark offers a wealth of expertise, made accessible through this dynamic, easy to follow class.
