Oh My Sweet Land, The Young Vic

With the conflict in Syria never far from the front pages, the Young Vic’s Spring production of 'Oh My Sweet Land' promises a personal perspective on this civil war.

The show is conceived and performed by German-Syrian actor Corinne Jaber (director of The Comedy of Errors set in Afghanistan for The Globe’s 2012 World Shakespeare Festival and winner of France's prestigious  Molière  Prize). It follows a woman who finds her way back into Syria in search of a lost love. Jaber, along with the show’s writer and director Amir Nizar Zuabi (founder of Haifa-based theatre company Shiber Hur), travelled to the refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan to research 'Oh My Sweet Land' in order to capture the reality of everyday life in Syria.

This won’t be an easy watch but it is sure to be a fascinating one.
