London Tap Festival Gala Evening

Tap dance enthusiasts are in for a very special treat: a gala performance hosted by the charismatic Adam Garcia, to mark the end of the London Tap Festival

It’ll be an evening to remember, celebrating tap dancing in all its thrilling manifestations, from classical Broadway numbers to contemporary versions. Cast members from some of the hottest musicals in town, including the glorious 42nd Street, Hamilton and Stomp will perform; and the evening will be hosted by none other than the singing, dancing, acting star of stage and film, Adam Garcia.

As well, the gala will feature exclusive performances from three brand-new pieces of tap dance theatre: Old Kent Road's OSCiLLATE, Lee Payne’s TapSymphony and the premiere of Jack Evans's highly anticipated Feet Keep Me Flyin’.

This glittering event marks the end of a three-day weekend dedicated entirely to tap, known as London Tap Dance Intensive, LTDI 2018 for short. It will include classes, workshops and demonstrations in three of London’s main open dance studios: Base Studios Vauxhall, Danceworks and Pineapple.

The format of the gala evening is cabaret, rather than a traditional stage show, and starts with relaxed cocktails and a few jazz riffs before moving on to the more formal main event.

There’s a commendable charity side to the evening in aid of #HeadsTogether. This initiative, supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, combines a campaign to tackle the stigma associated with mental health with fundraising for a series of innovative mental health services.
