Phillips Design Sale highlights
The highlight of the show must be the The Prouvé House. Made of steel, wood and aluminium, Jean Prouvé's 6x9 Demountable House (1944) was originally designed to counteract the urgent need for housing in post-war France. The components could be easily shipped to the worst affected areas and quickly made up into durable and comfortable homes. Incredibly, visitors can take a stroll through this iconic post-war design inside the Auction House.
Also look out for Mark Newson's seamless Lockheed Lounge (1990), which broke the record for a living designer in 2010 at Phillips with a sale price of $2.1m. Newson is one of the most influential designers of the last quarter century and joined the design team at Apple last year.
While only a lucky few will get their hands on these stunning designs at auction, the exhibition provides a great way to see fantastic designers at their most powerful.
