COLLECT Fair, Saatchi Gallery
COLLECT International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects returns to Saatchi with new exhibitors in cutting edge design and craft
COLLECT is the leading international art fair for contemporary objects, organised by The Crafts Council and found annually at our favourite west London hang out, the Saatchi gallery. Contemporary objects may seem like an enormous brief, but you can expect to find ceramics, glass, jewellery, previous metal, wood, textiles and furniture at the Saatchi this February.
The fair took a break in 2016, in order to regroup and revamp, so you can expect some sparkly new additions to this highly international affair. There'll be over 35 world-class galleries exhibiting. In the past we've seen Collection Ateliers d'art de France, Design Flanders, Ippodo Gallery and the über-cool Yufuku gallery.
Look out for a pair of Grayson Perry tapestries which were made as part of a suite of works for his A House for Essex. They tell the story of an imaginary woman, Julie, an Essex Everywoman whose biography Perry has written in a long, tongue-in-cheek poem, which also provides a social history of Essex since the Second World War.
COLLECT was launched by the Crafts Council in London in 2004 and has become a leading name in museum-quality contemporary craft. You'll find both private and institutional collectors wandering the halls of the Saatchi gallery from the likes of the V&A to the British Museum.
